The next governor of Puerto Rico to demand statehood for the island...

According to the Caribbean Business article titled Ricky Rosselló announces his gubernatorial candidacy from September 21, 2015, Ricky Rosello officially made his bid for the governorship of Puerto Rico in 2016. I believe he is the clear shoe-in for the position, not only because the polls have put him far ahead of any other candidate, but because, among other reasons, he has a clear understanding of the challenges facing the island, he has sensible ideas for solving many of the island's problems, and he also has the finances needed to run a long and successful campaign. A pinnacle component of his plan is to go to Washington and not to ask for Statehood, but to outright demand it. Why would Washington listen? I believe that there are many reasons for this, reaons that I will discuss in future posts, but for now lets just say that Mr. Rosello has plenty of ammunition to fight for his cause, including a history of multiple plebiscites, that throughout the years have demonstrated, a majority of People in Puerto Rico wanting statehood along with multiple administrations of both U.S. presidents and congress expressing their desire to honor Puerto Rico's right to self-determination. The people of Puerto Rico have spoken and they are not looking to take another survey. Puerto Ricans are growing weary of taking surveys since their wishes have not been honored. The last plebiscite in 2012 was supposed to be a very important one because, unlike the prior plescites that were Puerto Rico initiated, the last one was mandated by the United States congress. Many say that as a result of a coordinated effort by the "status quo" political party in Puerto Rico, to sabotage the clarity of the results in the latest plebiscite, Washington has been afraid to act swiftly. Mr. Rosello is not intimidated by Washington and not afraid to call the United States out on infringing on civil rights in Puerto Rico, not giving the 3.7 million Americans in Puerto Rico equal representation and voting rights as Americans within the mainland enjoy.

I Speculate that Mr. Rosello will become the next governor of Puerto Rico and that he will have the political intelligence, the backing of a majority of Puerto Ricans and the right timing to make Puerto Rico the 51st state. I will demonstrate in future posts that that there are other factors that points to Puerto Rico's eventual annexation to the United States, reaching beyond the aspirations of one gubernatorial candidate, but I believe that this is just one piece of the puzzle as we start to see all of the pieces come together to make Puerto Rico a State.
